In today’s fast-paced tech industry, between the late nights and pushing for the next milestone, it’s easy to lose focus on what actually makes everything possible… your team!
That’s why here at TurnKey, we put so much effort into building a culture that supports diversity and inclusivity. Not to blow our own horn (ok, maybe just a little bit), we think we are crushing it with our commitments to equality, employee well-being and environmental sustainability. It’s the triple threat we share with our employees and the companies that partners with us.
Not only are we proud of our efforts, we know these commitments are fundamental to our success. As a result, we have been able to cut churn by more than 50%, which makes our retention rate significantly higher than the industry average, while saving growing tech companies time and money. So, in this article, we will look under the TurnKey hood. I will share some of our best practices in hopes they might also supercharge your team!
The five commitment areas I’ll cover include Diversity and Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability, Work-life Balance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Career Growth. So let’s start the engine and put it in drive.
The tech industry has always been about pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted territory. And in a rapidly changing landscape, diversity and inclusion are keys to success. If you want to stay on top of your game, you need fresh perspectives and new ideas, and that only comes from a team with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. That’s why we put such a high value on diversity and inclusion. We know that the only way to keep up with the latest trends is to have a workforce that reflects the world around us.
TurnKey hires people from different parts of the world, creating a truly global workforce. As you can see from PeopleForce dashboard, TurnKey has a diverse workforce that spans across the globe. We have employees in over 24 countries, including Asia, Europe, North and South America. By hiring people from different parts of the world and creating an inclusive work environment, we are building a team that can drive innovation and growth.
We believe that BIGGER is always better! And that’s exactly what our tech recruitment team is all about – having access to a wider pool of talent in different locations. We’re not limited by geography, which means we can snag top-notch candidates from all over the world. But wait, you’re probably wondering about the legal part, right? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there too. Our legal team are like world travelers, but with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of global hiring regulations in every region.
Relax and Let Us Do the Legal Heavy Lifting. We've Got This.
At TurnKey, we’re all about embracing diversity and creating an inclusive environment for everyone on our team – no matter what their background, beliefs, or abilities may be. We understand the importance of respecting local holidays, religions, and traditions, and we make sure each and every one of our employees also have this opportunity. We believe in promoting equal access to employment for all, including those with disabilities.
We understand that work is not everything, and that the family is just as important. That’s why we offer paternity leave, because let’s face it, dads need bonding time with their little ones too.
So rest easy because when it comes to offshore partners, TurnKey is truly committed to creating a supportive work environment for all. We understand that diversity and inclusivity are key to finding the best senior software developers.

Let’s face it, Mother Nature needs all the love she can get these days! So, you guessed it, “reduce, reuse, recycle” is exactly what we’re committed to doing here at TurnKey. Our dedication to environmental sustainability is no joke – we’re serious about making a difference. Here’s a few of the things we are doing:
We’re committed to educating our employees about sustainable practices so that we can all make a positive impact on the environment. These webinars are jam-packed with awesome info and tools to help us become more mindful of our impact on the planet.
We implemented an online document flow system that saves us from drowning in paper and leaves more trees standing. No more digging through stacks of papers trying to find that important document when you need it most. Now, everything is shared electronically, which is not only convenient but helps us reduce our carbon footprint. We may not be saving the world on our own, but it’s a small step towards a healthier environment.
At TurnKey, being eco-friendly is not just a trend, it’s a way of life. That’s why we provide ecological branded merch for our team, and trust me, it’s pretty sweet. The best part? The online shop has items that are not only cool but also give employees the opportunity to choose products that align with their personal values. Who knew being sustainable could be sensible and stylish all at the same time?
When it comes to senior software developers, a healthy work-life balance is key, and requires offering a range of features and commitments to ensure their well-being and job satisfaction, including:
We’re all about giving our senior software developers the flexibility to live their best lives while they perfect their craft. TurnKey sets no boundaries on where these team members can work. That means whether they enjoy sipping a tropical drink on a Caribbean beach or exploring the mountains in the Alps, it’s totally cool if they can still get their coding done.
For the average developer, they might start daydreaming about an impromptu road trip for the weekend, but then reality hits, and they remember they’re chained to their desk until 5 pm Friday. Well, not at TurnKey! We promote flex time off to allow senior software developers to take time off whenever they need it without worrying. This helps them feel more relaxed and less stressed, leading to a more productive workforce.
This is the newest feature we added this spring. We’ve coordinated a team of professional psychologists and life coaches to offer personal consultations for TurnKey’s employees to help manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance. The Wellbeing Club will also offer workshops on mindfulness, stress management, and self-care.
In this area, we pick up the tab on a range of necessities that just make life better. This includes things from offering health insurance to a sports budget for our employees (up to $900 per year, mind you). We also understand the importance of language skills and comfortable workspaces. That’s why we include English classes and co-working expense reimbursement for our offshore developers. And, it should go without saying, we cover all IT-related expenses too. Imagine how motivated our team must feel when they aren’t stressing over technical issues or feeling uncomfortable at work.
These webinars help our team to live their best lives, both personally and professionally. Get ready to dive into topics about healthy diets, psychological help, self-love events, and stress reduction meetings! Working with software developers, we know all too well the stress that comes with tech jobs. These programs help to develop healthy habits and can improve job satisfaction and productivity.
Finally, we offer a financial literacy meetup held by Boris Glants, TurnKey’s CTO. This club can help senior software developers manage their finances better and plan for the future. The club members focus on learning how to manage their finances like a pro. I mean, who doesn’t want to feel more secure and confident about their financial future? Trust us, your team and their wallets will appreciate a wealth club!
This is a big commitment for us. At the beginning of 2022, we were hit with the news that Russian troops were invading Ukraine. It was like someone had pulled the rug right out from under us. We had big plans and goals for the year, but suddenly all of that seemed unimportant in the face of the danger and stress some of our team faced. But as the old adage goes, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going,” that’s exactly what we did. It took some time and effort, but we managed to get all of our employees and their families to safer places.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has affected many people, including some of our offshore teams. First, we provided financial support for Ukrainian employees during the war. The assistance helped alleviate financial stress and provide a sense of security for affected employees and their families.
To help other Ukrainians, we worked closely with the STAND with Ukraine organization. This is a program aimed at supporting Ukraine’s defenders by donating and buying necessary equipment, such as cars and drones. This program also provides financial assistance to Ukrainian soldiers and their families. By supporting this program, we aimed to contribute to the wellbeing of the Ukrainian community and help build a better future for all.
Also, our leadership is backing the GoTeam Ukraine organization that provides huge support to Ukrainian families that are suffering from the crippling devastation that Russia’s invasion has caused.
Today, TurnKey continues to go the extra mile to support employees in Ukraine. We provide Starlinks and power banks to employees for use during power outages, ensuring that they can stay connected and continue their work. This support shows that TurnKey values them and is committed to their well-being, even in challenging situations.

For top software developers, it’s not just about earning a paycheck but rather a way of advancing skills and expertise. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that they have the tools and opportunities to flourish. From mentoring programs to challenging projects, we give them everything they need to take that next big step, including:
Losing employees left and right can be a major bummer for any company. That’s why TurnKey puts retention first. By focusing on retention, we have built a stable and loyal workforce, which helps attract and retain top senior software developers, which powers our company culture and productivity.
A key tool we use is our Remote Retention Index Program – a proprietary retention tracking framework. This program provides clients with insights into individuals’ and teams’ current work situations, giving a fly-on-the-wall perspective.
From this data, TurnKey creates a personalized remote retention strategy for each team member that is focused on providing guidance and keeping them highly motivated, which significantly reduces churn risk.
For many offshore software developers, living and working in the USA is like winning the lottery. It’s the chance to showcase their skills in one of the biggest tech markets in the world. With this commitment, we provide a path to permanent residency, which is a significant benefit for those looking to relocate to the USA.
In a continued effort to motivate and inspire our employees, our HR team has introduced an innovative initiative. We’ve created an exclusive website where employees can earn “points” that can be redeemed for our custom clothing items and more. This program, which is open to both existing and new team members, has been designed to recognize and reward activity and productivity. This initiative underscores our dedication to fostering a productive, engaged, and dynamic workforce, encouraging everyone in our team to perform at their best.
A stock option plan provides the opportunity for employees to own a stake in TurnKey. As the company grows, the value of these stocks can increase, providing employees with significant financial benefits. This commitment also helps retain top talent by incentivizing them to stay with the company long-term.
Let’s be real, no one wants to feel like they’re stuck in a dead-end job. For our development teams, mantras like, “If you’re not growing, you’re dying,” are very common. By offering training and development programs, we’re not only investing in our team members to maximize their potential but also attracting additional top talent. The three winning components of our program are: offering a chance to learn about new technologies, developing leadership skills, and providing a mentor to guide them along the way.
And finally, let’s talk English, folks. For most offshore developers, English is their go-to for chatting it up with clients and colleagues. So, it should be a no-brainer to assist them in enhancing their language skills. Providing English language training not only helps team members climb the career ladder but can attract other top talents looking for opportunities to work with international clients.
Wow, that’s a huge list! No wonder these commitments allow our partners to enjoy significantly lower employee turnover rates than the industry average. I hope this article has inspired you to consider enhancement to your team’s commitments. Of course, there is one simple and easy method to begin enjoying the benefits of all these strategies immediately…choose TurnKey as your offshore partner and leverage our vast experience in the field. We would be happy to work with you to build committed, productive and happy offshore software teams.
