We are a thriving, remote-first company with a passionate team of 40+ members across 9 countries, dedicated to helping people save time and businesses save money.
We value providing fast, friendly support, treating one another with respect, and working together independently and asynchronously. We are a team that cares deeply about our mission and constantly strives to do better. We are currently embracing the next generation of productivity with TextExpander + AI, enhancing efficiency while keeping users in control.
How we work together
Our values aren’t posters on an office wall. As a remote company, they guide how we approach work, our customers, and each other every day.
Teamwork: We’ve got each other’s backs. We grow and nurture our team. We take joy in others’ successes.
Accountability: Trust makes our company run. We earn and reinforce that trust by meeting our commitments to one another.
Integrity: We do business honestly and honorably. We treat others as we wish to be treated. We do what we say we’ll do, and others can count on that.
Passion for Customer: Our customers are the bedrock of our business. We provide excellent service and support because they deserve nothing less.
We hire people who already embody these values and live them every day.
The opportunity
We are looking for a highly self-motivated Senior Designer to join our fast-paced, small team environment. You will play a crucial role in designing and validating our core application and services, unboxing, and onboarding with a focus on integrating and utilizing AI tools to deliver cutting-edge productivity features to our global user base.
This is an exciting inflection point for TextExpander. We’re expanding from an individual productivity tool into an organizational platform focused on consistency, compliance, and knowledge management. You’ll have the opportunity to define and design 0-1 features that help enterprises bring order to their snippet libraries, maintain consistency across teams, and ensure compliance at scale. Much of this territory is uncharted; You’ll be shaping what TextExpander becomes, not just iterating on what already exists.
Design has a voice. You’ll work directly with product and engineering teams to shape roadmaps and influence product vision. This isn’t a role where you’re handed specs to execute;
You’ll help define what we build and why.
Key responsibilities
- Turn messy, real-world problems into meaningful solutions: Take the complexity of managing thousands of snippets, coordinating teams across departments, and maintaining organizational consistency, and design experiences that feel simple and obvious.
- Be a voice for our customers: Conduct research interviews, review feedback from internal teams, analyze usage data, and stay connected to how people actually use TextExpander. Make sure we’re solving problems that matter, not just shipping features.
- Shape the product across platforms: Design experiences for web, Mac, Windows, and Chrome. You’ll think about how a feature works everywhere and where each platform needs its own approach.
- Help define how we design: As our second designer, you’ll have real influence on how we approach problems, what our design system becomes, and how we work together.
- Balance autonomy with collaboration: Work closely with your product trio (product manager and engineering lead) and sprint teams to scope and ship new functionality. Own the design for the teams you lead while communicating clearly and incorporating internal and external feedback.
- Build features that matter: Whether it’s improving onboarding so new teams see value immediately, designing AI features that help people work faster, or creating tools that bring order to massive snippet libraries, your work will directly impact how hundreds of organizations get things done.
- Balance speed with quality: Ship iteratively, learn from what you build, and improve over time.
- Use AI as part of your process: Leverage AI tools to write UX copy, get feedback on designs, prototype ideas, or analyze patterns in data. Be curious about how these tools can make your work better.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years designing products for businesses: You’ve worked in B2B SaaS and understand what businesses need: admin controls, team management, and features that work for organizations, not just individuals.
- You start by understanding the problem: You genuinely want to understand the problem before designing anything. You ask questions, dig into the details, and challenge assumptions (including your own).
- Strong Figma skills: Comfortable creating and using component libraries, building prototypes, and working in a shared design system.
- Multi-platform experience: You’ve designed for web and desktop applications (Mac, Windows, or browser extensions) and understand how to adapt designs for different environments.
- Clear communicator: You can explain your thinking in writing (Google Docs, Slack), present work over Zoom, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and customer-facing teams.
- You think about how things get built: You don’t need to write code, but you understand technical constraints, can work productively with developers, and design experiences that are feasible to ship.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
Experience with any of the following platforms is a significant plus:
- Experience in healthcare, legal, or other regulated industries where compliance and organizational controls matter
- Enterprise software experience: You’ve designed permissions systems, admin tools, or other features that organizations need to manage large teams
- You can code: Helpful for prototyping or understanding implementation details
- Experience designing within legacy software: You know how to improve established products without breaking what people rely on
