The Role
The Legal Counsel for the LATAM Region will be the regional leader and contact to provide legal guidance and support for all aspects of international company business activities across LATAM. This role includes overseeing regulatory compliance, managing commercial contracts, advising on employment law, and supporting strategic initiatives. Additionally, the successful candidate will support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, offboarding, and background checks. The Legal Counsel will collaborate with LATAM regional teams, the Global General Counsel, and other stakeholders to align legal strategy with business objectives and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Qualifications
Education: Law degree from an accredited university; admission to practice law in one of LATAM’s jurisdictions. An International law degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a corporate counsel or in-house lawyer, preferably within the IT, staffing, HR, or professional services industries.
Legal Expertise: Strong background in commercial, corporate, employment, and compliance law within LATAM countries.
Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese, with strong proficiency in English.

Responsibilities
Legal Advice and Support: Provide comprehensive legal advice on corporate, commercial, and employment law matters, ensuring compliance with local regulations. Assess legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies that align with business objectives.
Employee Lifecycle Support: Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring legal compliance, conducting background checks. Advise on best practices for workforce relocation.
Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including service contracts, NDAs, DPAs, MSAs, and vendor agreements. Ensure that contractual terms comply with legal requirements while aligning with TurnKey Staffing’s business interests.
Labor Relations: Provide legal guidance on employment matters, including employment agreements, workplace policies, and termination processes. Advise on workforce restructuring and talent management practices as needed. Manage disputes and claims. Lead negotiations and settlements to minimize legal risk and protect the company’s interests.
Project-Based Legal Support: Support new business initiatives, including expansions, market entries, and strategic partnerships. Conduct legal research and provide actionable insights to facilitate business growth and operational efficiency in the region.
Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with regional leaders and members of the global legal team to ensure an integrated approach to legal issues. Engage with internal teams to promote compliance, best practices, and adherence to company policies.
