At Boldin, we believe financial confidence should be accessible to everyone. Money decisions shape our lives, yet too often people are left without the clarity or tools they need to make informed choices. We exist to change that.
Boldin is a comprehensive financial planning platform that helps people understand their financial picture, make smarter decisions with their money and time, and plan for the future with confidence.
With over $20M raised and strong momentum, Boldin is entering a pivotal phase of growth. This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven team and help shape the future.
About This Role
Boldin helps people plan for and live a confident retirement. The Time to Value (TTV) team owns the top of the funnel — the experience from a visitor’s first touch through registration, onboarding, account linking, trial, and conversion to a paying subscriber. It’s where prospective members decide whether Boldin is worth their trust, so the work is equal parts product polish and reliable, integration-heavy engineering.
We’re hiring a Full Stack Engineer to strengthen this team. Much of the funnel runs on third-party integrations — payment platforms, financial account aggregation, lifecycle messaging, and analytics — and we need someone who is comfortable owning that connective tissue end-to-end, from a React/TypeScript front end through a Ruby on Rails back end to the webhooks that tie external services together.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain the registration, onboarding, checkout, and conversion flows that move visitors to activated, paying members.
Own integrations across the funnel: payment platforms, lifecycle/marketing messaging, and product analytics — including the webhook handlers and gateway services that keep them in sync.
Contribute to the ongoing payments migration (consolidating multiple legacy payment platforms onto our primary processor) and help simplify a multi-gateway billing setup.
Work across the stack: React/TypeScript on the front end, Ruby on Rails on the back end, with the data and webhook plumbing in between.
Partner with product, design, and the broader engineering org to instrument and improve top-of-funnel conversion, grounded in analytics.
Write tested, maintainable code and participate in code review.
What you’ll work on
The funnel touches a broad set of external systems. You won’t need experience with all of them, but this is the landscape:
Payments & billing: multiple platforms today (primary processor plus legacy gateways and cart/checkout tools), with an active migration to consolidate them. Subscription lifecycle, webhooks, and tax handling.
Financial-account aggregation: linking members’ real financial accounts during onboarding — a core, trust-critical part of the product.
Lifecycle & support messaging: in-app messaging/support, marketing automation, and transactional email.
Analytics & experimentation: product analytics and a customer-data pipeline used to measure and improve funnel conversion.

Qualifications
4+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily backend (Ruby on Rails)
Strong experience with a server-side framework and relational database (we use Ruby on Rails; comparable experience is fine if you’re eager to pick up Rails).
Strong experience building webhook-driven, third-party API integrations, with sound reasoning about failure, retries, and idempotency.
Working proficiency with a modern JS/TypeScript front-end framework (we use React) — comfortable contributing to the front end when the work calls for it.
A pragmatic eye for the user experience, especially in high-stakes flows like signup and payment.
Advanced English proficiency (B2–C1 or higher).
Strong plus
Experience with financial-account aggregation providers (Plaid, Finicity, Yodlee, or similar).
Experience migrating or consolidating payment/billing systems.
Background in fintech, financial services, or another domain with sensitive user data and compliance considerations.
Nice to have
Familiarity with CRM, lifecycle, or analytics tooling (Intercom, ActiveCampaign, Segment, or similar) — these are learnable on the job.
Experience optimizing top-of-funnel conversion and running experiments.
Our stack
Front end: React, TypeScript, Material-UI, Redux, SWR (Yarn workspaces monorepo)
Back end: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Sidekiq
Integrations: Stripe, Braintree, ChargeDesk, Plaid, Intercom, Segment, and more
Infra & data: AWS, plus a data pipeline for analytics
Ideal Applicant Personality (Describe)
Takes Ownership, scrappy and wants to own the service integration.
Curious and thoughtful engineer who loves to solve problems.
Independent and can find answers on their own. Asks great questions and jumps right in.
They see things through to the end. They don’t need to be reminded to finish things, and won’t leave them for someone else to do.
Flexible and unflappable, able to take feedback from stakeholders and speak up for self and others.
Fast but rigorous. AI-augmented by default (Claude/Cursor), yet knows where slow-is-fast — applies review and testing where correctness matters most.
Clear communicator, low ego. Surfaces blockers early, gives substantive code review, and leaves the codebase better than they found it.
We offer
Flexible PTO and a team that values sustainable pace
Personal laptop.
Health and wellness package.
Budget for English lessons.
The chance to build and lead a function from scratch, and to define how data science works at Boldin, and who does it
A mission that matters: helping people retire with confidence, not anxiety
