About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead our Developer Productivity team, driving initiatives that enhance developer efficiency, tooling, and processes across the organization. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to build and guide a team focused on creating outstanding developer experiences. You will be responsible for both technical strategy and team development, ensuring the successful delivery of tools and platforms that accelerate our engineering organization’s productivity.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Architect and drive the technical vision for developer productivity initiatives across product development, support, platform engineering, and performance optimization
- Lead the design and implementation of critical developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
- Guide technical decisions on tooling selection and implementation strategies
- Oversee the development of internal tools, frameworks, and platforms that enhance developer workflow efficiency
- Drive implementation of performance monitoring and optimization systems
- Collaborate with platform teams on infrastructure decisions and cloud strategy (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Maintain high technical standards and best practices across the team’s deliverables
People Management
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Developer Productivity Engineers
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning
- Recruit and retain top engineering talent
- Develop team members’ technical and leadership capabilities
- Balance team workload and maintain high engagement levels
- Create opportunities for team members to grow and take on challenging projects
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and execute the developer productivity roadmap
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for developer productivity
- Lead stakeholder engagement across product, support, and platform teams
- Drive adoption of new tools and processes across the engineering organization
- Manage project prioritization and resource allocation
- Build strong partnerships with other engineering teams to understand their needs and pain points
- Present technical strategy and results to senior leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of software development experience
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Willingness to adopt TypeScript as the primary programming language.
- Deep technical expertise in developer tooling, automation, and platform engineering
- Strong background in modern software development practices and tools
- Extensive experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud platforms
- Proven track record of leading successful technical initiatives at scale
- Experience managing and growing engineering teams
- Strong understanding of system design and distributed systems
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of at least one modern programming language (Python, TypeScript, Go)
- Deep understanding of development workflows and tooling
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code and containerization
- Understanding of performance optimization and monitoring
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
