About the Role
We are looking to hire a Platform Engineer to report to the Chief Architect at YipitData. This is a new function responsible for working across engineering teams to deploy reliable and scalable services that support our customer-facing digital platform. As a Platform Engineer, this individual will be researching cutting-edge technologies, prototyping solutions, and upgrading key components of data-intensive applications that are relied upon at the company. This is a full-stack role in a dynamic environment, working closely with the Chief Architect to deliver high-impact, greenfield projects that increase the leverage of other engineering teams.
We expect East Coast working hours.
As Our Platform Engineer, You Will:
Research technologies, analyze tradeoffs in potential implementations, and execute on solutions that cross multiple engineering systems
Design, develop, and maintain reusable components and services that can be integrated into other production systems and engineering teams
Learn and apply internal libraries and platforms to optimize the performance and capabilities of existing systems and data flows
Collaborate with engineering teams to drive adoption of best practices within various application frameworks, data software, and cloud services. Tech stack includes Python, Django, Databricks (Spark), AWS, Airflow, and Docker
Advise engineers on design patterns, architecture reviews, and implementation strategies
You Are Likely To Succeed If You:
Can work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and navigate multiple technologies and production services that vary from project to project
Have +4 years of proven experience with a strong background in software engineering, running systems with 24/7 uptime, and either interest or experience in data engineering / analytics
Have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to details, and genuine passion to learn new technologies
Strong communication skills, responsiveness, and a team-oriented approach
Ability to create polished documentation and architecture diagrams to communicate technical topics to a wide audience
Familiarity with Python, Docker, AWS, REST APIs, and database technologies. (Spark, Airflow, and Django knowledge are nice to have but not required)
