About this role 

• We currently have 90+ Data team members in our Investor business who create and maintain our data products, and we are looking to further expand the team to continue to increase our product portfolio. Those with strong analytical skills are encouraged to apply. Our internal title for this role is Data Specialist.

This role differs from traditional data engineering in that it focuses on analytical skills, client-facing responsibilities, and product ownership. Unlike Data Engineers, who focus primarily on infrastructure and pipelines, Data Specialists balance working closely with YipitData’s Research team to understand what clients care about, develop insights from our data, and create and maintain data products and pipelines to ensure accuracy.

Standard work hours for this role are aligned to the US East Coast time zone. That being said, ownership and impact are core to YipitData’s values, which means that we entrust folks to take ownership of their work to make the biggest impact they can make. Outside of key meetings and deadlines, you will have flexibility and autonomy over your schedule. We trust you to know when and how you work best!

In this role, you will:

• Be the primary owner of high impact work such as running or building new data products end-to-end or running centralized data ingestion pipelines that the broader Data team relies on
• Work with massive amounts of data to help answer our clients’ key questions about the companies we cover and the datasets we analyze. You will learn about our proprietary methods and techniques to ensure data accuracy and derive key insights
• Become a trusted and reliable resource for our internal stakeholders or clients and work with them to identify and answer their key questions. You’ll gain insight into how investors use data in their investment decisions by contributing to  custom analysis, dashboards, or data reports that are consumed by the top investors in the world
• Improve our products or data pipelines,by developing entirely new methodologies and features for our products or exploring and scaling use across the data team of new third-party datasets. We value self-improvement and experimentation and expect you to enhance the products of pipelines that you own
• Learn or sharpen existing SQL and Python skills starting with our new hire training program that will teach you SQL, PySpark, and Python fundamentals as well as our internal tools and processes
