Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who is comfortable owning core backend systems built in Node.js and MongoDB. You’ll work closely with the anti-piracy infrastructure team building services that power our web-scale domain scanning, metadata extraction, and automated enforcement pipelines. Experience with web crawling, distributed systems, and scalable data pipelines is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the complete rewrite of Ruby on Rails application to Node.js, ensuring seamless functionality transfer and improved performance
• Develop and maintain MongoDB-based data models and document search features
• Collaborate with the detection team to improve our crawling and content extraction framework
• Scale and optimize backend APIs that interact with millions of URLs and piracy records
• Contribute to internal libraries for domain classification and takedown coordination
• Write clean, tested, and maintainable code with strong documentation
• Mentor junior engineers and help shape engineering best practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Node.js in a production environment
• Deep understanding of MongoDB and NoSQL schema design
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• A bias toward action, autonomy, and solving real-world abuse problems

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Ruby on Rails
• NLP or image-based feature extraction pipelines
• Elasticsearch, Redis, or Kafka experience
• Knowledge of international DMCA and enforcement APIs
• GPU programming (CUDA/OpenCL) for real-time video processing
• Experience with web crawlers (e.g. Scrapy, Puppeteer, or Playwright) is a strong plus
